BLACK CORAL ANCESTRAL GREEN CULTURE READING CIRCLE

Pam Goncalves (The Bottle Tree Lady) President of Black Coral Inc has created A Hoodoo and Spiritual Ancestral Wisdom Reading Circle provide a dedicated space for individuals interested in exploring the nature preserving traditions, beliefs, and practices of Hoodoo, and other nature focused spiritual paths within marginalized communities.





PURPOSE

1.Is to discuss why a BIPOC sacred book circle is important. The need is for expansion of green space and sustainability education where individuals from marginalized racial and ethnically diverse people can come together to explore literature that reflects their experiences, amplifies their voices, and challenges mainstream narratives.


BENEFITS

1.Creating a sense of community and belonging among BIPOC individuals who share common experiences and interests.

2.To provide a platform for marginalized voices to be heard and validated.

3.Offering an opportunity for personal growth and learning through exposure to diverse perspectives and experiences.

4.Empowering participants to engage critically with literature and explore themes of identity, race, culture, and social rights.


CHALLENGES

1.Access to resources, some participants may face barriers, lack of funds to purchase books.

2.Diversity of perspectives: While the AWSC may share common racial ethnic backgrounds, individuals within the AWSC may have diverse perspectives and experiences that contribute to rich discussion but may also lead to disagreements.

3.Ensuring that discussions are inclusive, respectful, and engaging for the participants and active participation for all involved.


SELECTION OF THE BOOKS (BOOKLIST)

1.AWSC books will select books that delve into the history, practices, and cultural significance of Hoodoo, as well as other spiritual traditions prevalent within BIPOC communities. This may include works by BIPOC authors, historical text accounts, personal accounts, and instructional guides on Hoodoo, rootwork, conjure, herbal and land, and related spiritual practices.


DISCUSSION

1.Will be in a respectful and inclusive manner, allowing participants to share their insights, questions, and personal experiences related to the books being discussed. The structure may include guided discussions on key themes, rituals, and practices, as well as an opportunity for open dialogue and reflection, and guest speakers.



CULTURAL CONTEXT AND UNDERSTANDING

1.AWSC will emphasize the importance of understanding the cultural context and historical significance of Hoodoo and other of Hoodoo and other spiritual traditions within the BIPOC communities. AWSC explores the ways in which these traditions have shaped cultural exchange, resistance to oppression, and resilience in the face of adversity.


PRACTICAL APPLICATION AND RITUAL

1.In addition to discussing theoretical aspects of Hoodoo and spiritually, Black Coral's AWSC may explore practical applications and rituals associated with these traditions. This could involve sharing personal experiences with Spell work, divination, ancestor veneration, and other spiritual practices, as well as discussing ethical consideration and responsible engagement with traditions.,


COMMUNITY BUILDING AND SUPPORT

Black Coral's AWSC serves as a supportive community where participants can connect with each other who share an interest in Hoodoo and spiritually Networking opportunities, resources sharing, and mutual support are encouraged, fostering empowerment among AWSC.


EMPOWERING AND HEALING

1.Black Coral's AWSC while engaging with Hoodoo and spiritual literature can be empowering and healing for participants, providing tools for personal growth, self -discovery, and spiritual empowerment. The Circle may explore themes of healing, resilience, and liberation within the context of Hoodoo and other spiritual traditions, empowering participants to reclaim their cultural heritage and spiritual sovereignty.


FUTURE DIRECTIONS AND OUTREACH

1.As Black Coral's AWSC grows and evolves, it may explore additional avenues for community engagement, such as organizing workshops, guest speakers, events, and community rituals. Outreach efforts may focus on reaching out to marginalized communities, providing access to resources, and promoting preservation and spiritual empowerment.


Overall, Black Coral's AWSC will provide space for individuals to explore, learn and connect with others who share an interest in Hoodoo and spiritual traditions within our communities. It serves as platform for education, empowering, and community building, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of these rich and diverse legacies.
