According to some doctors, a regular cleanse of your body's unwanted passengers is believed to be essential for longevity.
Intestinal infections disproportionately affect marginalized BIPOC and Black communities, as well as rural areas with inadequate sewage systems. These infections typically spread through polluted soil and water, making them prevalent global diseases. Around a quarter of the world's population is afflicted by soil-transmitted helminths, parasitic worms that pose significant health risks. Moreover, up to half of the global population carries Helicobacter pylori, a stomach-dwelling bacterium linked to ulcers and cancer.
Two types of infections contribute to systemic health inequities, especially among communities of color in which limited access to medical care and inadequate sanitation systems may both increase exposure to pathogens and lead to worse outcomes. Though national infection rates remain unclear because of the absence of large-scale studies, a 2019 study found that 38 percent of children sampled in a predominantly Black Mississippi Delta community had intestinal parasitic infections.
One of the most widely publicized recent research studies investigating intestinal infections focused on the health effects of poverty and crumbling sanitation infrastructure in Lowndes County, Alabama, a region characterized by a history of racial segregation and inequity.
Researchers discovered that in Lowndes County, more than one-third of the individuals tested were infected with hookworm, an intestinal parasite transmitted through exposure to sewage, which thrives in soil and infects humans by penetrating bare feet. This 2017 study prompted legal action. A significant court decision in May 2023 determined that Alabama's public health department had engaged in discrimination against Black residents by failing to provide adequate sanitation systems and levying fines for related sewage problems. Historically, parasitic challenges are among the most overlooked endemic issues. Since parasites are invisible and seldom cause immediate symptoms, they often go unnoticed as a cause or contributing factor to what can become a severe disorder.

BERBERINE:
Research conducted in 2023 revealed that berberine has the ability to eliminate harmful intestinal bacteria while simultaneously promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut. Another study from 2024 demonstrated that berberine can be beneficial for individuals with kidney issues by modulating the composition of beneficial gut bacteria and inhibiting the production of harmful substances that can exacerbate kidney disease.
Berberine exhibits antimicrobial properties against a wide range of organisms such as gut bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. It is effective in addressing giardia infections in the bloodstream. Berberine induces parasites to undergo self-consumption through a process known as "autophagy." Furthermore, it can eliminate harmful bacteria and parasites that might be fueling Candida overgrowth. The recommended dosage for adults is 200 mg three times daily.
Berberine is known to enhance the production of digestive enzymes and bile, aiding in better digestion and nutrient absorption. However, it may lead to digestive side effects, such as diarrhea, in some individuals. As an alkaloid, berberine is present in several plants like barberry, goldenseal, and Oregon grape. These plants have been traditionally used in indigenous medicine, including Native American and Chinese medicinal practices.
BERBERINE and CINNAMON:When berberine is combined with Ceylon cinnamon, their synergistic effect enhances their individual advantages. This combination can regulate blood sugar levels, support healthy cholesterol, boost metabolism, and contribute to weight loss. Berberine activates an enzyme called AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK), which helps regulate your body's metabolism and energy. Recent findings suggest that MSM reduces the response to pro-inflammatory stimuli in human cardiac cells by decreasing interleukin-6 (IL-6) transcript and protein expression. IL-6 is a hormone with both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory effects, and AMPK is a fuel-sensing enzyme that ensures the anti-inflammatory benefits of IL-6 are realized.
BERBERINE AND MSM: Drinking a glass of water with half a teaspoon of MSM, a chemical naturally found in animals, humans, and plants, supports overall health and treats various conditions. MSM also aids in parasite removal. Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is not associated with harmful side effects and does not kill parasites. Rather, it creates a slick coating along the stomach and intestinal walls. This coating adheres to the mucous membrane receptor sites where parasites typically attach, preventing their attachment and aiding in their expulsion from the system.
