His adventures see him combat zombies and the secret shadow government operatives of A.I.M., and ally with Moon Knight and Doctor Strange. These classic stories of Brother Voodoo's spiritual warfare are meticulously restored and compiled in this comprehensive volume, which has inspired numerous esteemed scriptwriters to explore the Brother Voodoo narrative.
Brother Voodoo is an interesting Marvel superhero that no one talks about. Created by Len Wein and Gene Colan for the 1973 relaunch of Strange Tales, Brother Voodoo is one of the few positive portrayals of the Vodun and Santeria Haitian African based religions from comics of this period. While having only one series to his name since the 1970s, Brother Voodoo has been a supporting character recently in Savage Avengers, Doctor Strange, and the Strange Academy. Brother Voodoo, also known as Jericho Drumm, gained his powers through an ancient sacred ritual that transferred his murdered twin brother Daniel's spirit into his own body this doubled his already impressive physical strength he used in order to save the people they loved from the dark forces that wanted to destroy not only their land but the spirit and literal souls of the innocent. This ritual allowed him to communicate with Voodoo spirits and command living things. Daniel's spirit could also possess others to come to Jericho's aid.
The character was created by Marvel publisher Stan Lee, writer Len Wein, and artist John Romita Sr. Since replacing Doctor Strange as Sorcerer Supreme in The New Avengers #53. Brother Voodoo's time spent as the new Sorcerer Supreme bestowed upon him not only the power of the Eye of Agamotto, but also the Cloak of Levitation and the Books of Knowledge. The Eye of Agamotto is a powerful relic created by Agamotto, the first Sorcerer Supreme, as a containment device for the Time Stone.
ORIGIN STORY
Daniel Drumm was the twin of Jericho Drumm and grew up in Haiti with their aunt. The area believed in a more mystical approach to life and, when he became older, Daniel was expected to become the village priest. Eventually, he did, but Jericho was not there to see it as he had moved to the USA for economic opportunity and for western education. However, Jericho did return home when he heard that his brother's health was declining. This was due to an evil sorcerer who had taken control of the village and cursed Daniel with his affliction but who is really behind the murder and why is the poor village of Jericho and Daniel's birth so important? Could it be the mountain of iridium that it sits on one of the most valuable substances on the planet? At the strike of midnight, this sorcerer killed Daniel with a voodoo spell but not before Daniel made his brother promise to find an old witch doctor, Papa Jambo. Jambo was able to fuse Daniel's spirit with his twins and with this newfound physical and spiritual power Papa Jambo was able to teach Jericho everything he knew while he was in hiding, creating the new "Brother Voodoo".
This is just in time because the governmental forces of AIM wanted to create another Cutter event that would clear out the region by creating a viral epidemic so they could build a secret mining operation! The story goes on to explain that In April 1955 more than 200 000 children in five Western and mid-Western USA states received a polio vaccine in which the process of inactivating the live virus proved to be defective. Within days there were reports of paralysis and within a month the first mass vaccination program against polio had to be abandoned. Subsequent investigations revealed that the vaccine, manufactured by the California-based family firm of Cutter Laboratories, had caused 40 000 cases of polio, leaving 200 children with varying degrees of paralysis and killing 10. This is what AIM planned to do to Brother Voodoos people!
Brother Voodoo must face down these perpetrators of a modern day `Cutter incident' in the context of the struggle of medical science against the spirit realm causing infectious diseases and releasing man-made Zuvembies aka zombies. Summer outbreaks in the USA in the 50's caused tens of thousands of cases, leaving hundreds paralyzed or dead. `Second only to the atomic bomb', polio was `the thing that Americans feared the most' AIM used this secret technology to build a bioweapon that was activated by electromagnetic radiation that could be sent through televisions and made the virus stronger. The virus will also allow the evil members of AIM to cover up their profits from the illegal mining by getting congress to approve humanitarian aid and then obfuscating where the money goes and the numbers that travel to offshore accounts and bitcoin accounts globally!
