Posters of Black Heroes Taken Down: School Deems Black Excellence Inappropriate for Black Students!

The significant development: Florida initially mandated that textbook publishers expunge all mentions of "critical race theory" to distribute their books in state schools. Later, "social-emotional learning," along with "diversity, equity, and inclusion," were also prohibited. Presently, it seems that climate change is under scrutiny. Books and Images Currently Banned In Florida for Some Elementary Schools!

A White Educator in Black School District was Reprimanded for Instilling Pride and Self Esteem through displaying posters of Black heroes to Black Students in Florida!

Michael James, a teacher at O.J. Semmes Elementary School in Florida. James resigned after a school district employee removed posters of Black leaders like Martin Luther King Jr., Harriet Tubman, Colin Powell, and Barack Obama from his classroom. The district claimed the posters were "age inappropriate" for the students, who were part of a small unit for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) students. James, however, felt the posters were important for inspiring his predominantly Black students. The situation has sparked a debate about the appropriateness and importance of such educational materials in classrooms.

The school district, spurred by public demand, was asked to provide educators with a list of approved Black figures for presentation to elementary students. The Stop Woke Act, a recent Florida statute, limits the teaching of race-related concepts in schools and businesses. It bans any workplace training or school curriculum that suggests individuals who advocate racist views, support anti-black, anti-women, anti-LGBT, and anti-BIPOC policies are "inherently racist, sexist, or oppressive," or that individuals are privileged or oppressed based on race, gender, or national origin, even if historically factual. The law permits parents to sue educators for imparting historical facts and penalizes school districts that contravene a parent's preference for their children to learn narratives that deny systemic racism.
